Almenara is an intimate hotel in a grand setting. Surrounded by the splendour of the Sotogrande sports and leisure estate, Almenara boasts numerous accolades including that of ‘Spain’s leading golf resort 2005’. Imbued with an understated elegance and style, each of the 148 guest rooms and suites (located in stand-alone villas) is decorated in soft hues complemented by rich wooden furnishings. All rooms feature satellite TV, air-conditioning, mini-bar and luxurious bathrooms with high pressure showers. Private balconies or terraces encourage a gentle start to the day with serene views across the hotel’s beautiful gardens to the surrounding 27 hole golf course. Casual daytime dining can be enjoyed tee-side at Restaurante Veinteeocho or beach-side at El Cucurucho (lunches only), Sotogrande’s beach club. Sitting on the shores of the Mediterranean, this private beach club (accessed by the hotel’s courtesy shuttle bus), is the hub of the Sotogrande estate with four pools, a seasonal restaurant, bars and children’s facilities. Exquisitely presented Mediterranean cuisine is served at Gaia, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant. For those so inclined, select a cigar from Gaia’s cigar cellar to enjoy in the stylish surroundings of Pentagrama piano bar, accompanied by a fine cognac.

A 27 hole Dave Thomas golf course, floodlit driving range and golf academy provide plenty of challenges for both novice and accomplished golfers. The superior course presents winding fairways, deep bunkers and a changeable wind requiring planning and strategy. A further six golf courses are within a 4 mile radius of the hotel including La Reserva and Valderrama. Alternatively, simply relax in the soothing waters of the hotel’s palm-edged outdoor swimming pool. Offset the day’s activities with an invigorating underwater massage or Turkish aromatherapy bath at the hotel’s Elysium Spa. A fully equipped cardio-vascular fitness room and two aerobics studios are also located within Elysium. Children can choose from a host of adventure, sport, nature and craft activities at the hotel’s seasonal mini-club or at Iguana Park, El Cucurucho beach club’s children’s leisure facility (seasonal).
